The SMART Train also connects to the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport via a short shuttle from the Sonoma County Airport station, providing access to direct flights to destinations including Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and other West Coast cities.
San Rafael is served by multiple school districts, including San Rafael City Schools and portions of the Miller Creek School District, along with limited areas served by the Tamalpais Union High School District. San Rafael also offers several well-regarded private school options, including Marin Academy, Mark Day School, and Marin Waldorf School, along with Brandeis Marin and Fusion Academy.
